I have read about asthma causing erectile dysfunction in men. I use to have asthma when I was younger but have overcome it. My Great Grandparents lived in Bodie in the late 1930s early 1940s and were one of the last families to leave when the mine closed. My Great Grandfather was Norm LeDoux and he was a miner. My Great Grandmother Emily LeDoux was a housewife who took care of my Grandfather Sam (Herbert) Young. They said it snowed so bad that my Grandfather would ski off the roofs and if you wanted to leave in the winter you had to go when the mail went out so you could follow the horses since they packed down the snow. My Grandfather carved his name in one of the desks in the school house but from what my mom has said you can't get in the school house to see the desks. I wish I would have been able to visit Bodie when they were alive because from what I heard on their last trip there my Great Grandfather told the tour guide stories of when they were living there. I have pictures of them living in Bodie and it is interesting to match the pictures I have of them living there to the ones in books about Bodie. We are hoping to vist Bodie next summer.
I would like to know if anyone knows if Life magazine came to Bodie to take some pictures sometime in the 40's during the war? My Great Grandmother said they took a picture of my Grandfather and his dog. He was collecting rubber and the dog had it hanging over his neck. We tried finding it but can't.

Hello all - I'm Bill Hunstock from Minneapolis, MN.  My great grandfather lived in Bodie from 1880 - 1884.  My grandfather's half brother was born there in 1883.  I've visited Bodie several times in the past 10 years, and have shared as much of my great grandfather's story with Terri Geisinger as I have, including pictures and names from a photo album of his.  I grew up in Lake Arrowhead, and have spent many days hiking and fishing the back country of the Eastern Sierra, my favorite place to be!

Thanks for this forum, I'm glad it's back.  I enjoy hearing other people's stories about Bodie.  I wish I was closer.
